Green Printing Capabilities

Priority Press offers a variety of green printing options. We are  committed to continuous improvement in all aspects of our business, including our environmental sensitivity. Priority continually researches, develops and implements new initiatives within our company to enhance sustainability and decrease environmental impact, including:

FSC® Certified.

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international organization that brings people together to find solutions which promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests.

Being FSC® certified, Priority Press can print your job on paper that has followed a chain of custody from the forest floor to our shop floor. All sources that bear the FSC® trademark are from responsibly maintained forests which have been certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council®. The FSC® product label allows consumers worldwide to recognize products and companies that support the growth of responsible forest management worldwide.

Soy and vegetable based printing inks.

Priority Press offers soy and vegetable based inks as an alternative to traditional petroleum based inks. These inks are more environmentally friendly than petroleum based inks and are naturally low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Additionally, the use of soy and vegetable based inks makes it easier to recycle paper.

The process inks we use have been certified by the EcoSmart™ certification program. This means our inks are environmentally friendly inks which have low VOCs and high renewable resource content.

Waste ink and chemical disposal.

Waste ink and chemical solvents are by-products of the printing industry. Responsible, environmentally conscious disposal of these by-products is important to maintaining a healthy environment. Priority Press contracts with an outside firm to insure all waste ink and other chemicals are disposed of in compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

The Printer’s 3 P’s of Recycling—Paper, Plates, Palettes. Priority Press vigorously recycles all scrap paper created in the printing process including paper trim from our presses, cutters and folders. We also recycle all other paper waste and cardboard. These recycling efforts help reduce the environmental impact on raw materials, as well as, the environmental impact on waste disposal.

Additionally, Priority Press recycles all metal press plates used in the printing process. The recycling of these plates reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and the demand on natural resources, while also reducing our production costs.

Lastly, Priority Press reuses and recycles all wooden palettes used in the transportation of paper to and from our plant. This again significantly reduces the environmental impact on raw materials and the amount of waste sent to landfills.
